KAMŪNDŪ (they call it mwisho wa mawazo)

Behind Jua Kali garage Kanairo, a short dark and beautiful brave young girl was walking to work when she noticed a crowd of young men in groups behind the garage.   She had noticed them a few days after she started to work as a cook at Njoroge’s kiosk , which was stationed in front of the garage. It raised alarm when she noticed that those people were just there and, they were not doing anything constructive. Kanairo used to walk on the road which was not very far from them. She walked through it every day she went to work early in the morning before dawn and later in the evening after sunset. Njoki and Kamae were engineers at Jua Kali garage and they were workmates with a very tight friendshipness. They were always together during lunch hours. They were Njoroge’s regular customers and they used to go round the kibanda when they were not at work. Njoroge used to prepare traditional uji , traditionally fermented milk, and fermented mango juice. Kanairo on the other h...

Delivered from the garbage

Delivered from the garbage by Paul K Wanjiku  Education is like a stepping stone So you step on it, and lift your life on top. Give it a rhyme, give it your best tone And live up saying You started from the bottom, But now you're on top Some life events cannot be forgotten I always pray for them Whenever I recall them Living in the streets wasn't easy Imagine kuhustle tangu asubuhi Na ukipata doh , unaitwa mwizi Life' is no easy. Garbage life was the way to survive Out blue, we got a chance in a life You made us smile You gave us the chance to better our lives Life in in Ndugu Mdogo Was so good Even we couldn't afford to doze on Before meal We said a prayer, then bona petito If we did okay You recognized it and said, capito! We share we care We belong to each other Life is a bridge, hold my hand I hold his hand, we cross together We are humans, we depend on others For sure, we belong to each other We liked it when us you embraced Tied us tig...

The Toothless Community

THE TOOTHLESS COMMUNITY Before the jaza pengo campaign and before the toothless community. January 21 2036 In a non busy market place, close to a large garbage, there are two boys each with a bottle of beer. They are dressed in ragged Jean's and fashionably torn shirts but each were unique in color and brand. Pengo's had a brand logo with a toothless smile. Njoro : Kwani where did your tooth go, I mean, where did you take your tooth?  Pengo : When it first came out I threw to my grandmother's house direction and asked her to give me a new one. I think she refused to give me back. Njoro : Walai, I'm not doubting but, are you for real? Pengo : Naa bro, I just removed it the other day. How do I look like? It's my new iconic swag. Have you noticed how much I'm drinking them? Njoro : mmmmmh I noticed earlier today you talked to a girl. It looks good on you by the way. You look gangsta. April 12 2037 Njoro removed his two upper front teeth. And it looked very good on ...

Who got the bag part 1 (intro) at the Junkyard

At the Junkyard  Few young men and women are getting high on drugs. Some are smoking marijuana, some cigarettes and rolls of weed contaminated with heroin, and some are high on smurf. Buda, a peddler is surrounded by several people who are waiting to buy drugs from him. He's drooling signalling zombie mode.  Buyer 1: Kicks Buda on the shoes to wake him . Buda you haven't given back my change. I just gave you 100. That hundred note you're holding with your left hand. Buda: Oh, my bad. He fishes for coins in his money bag and give him 50. Pitah : As he is passing behind Buda. Those of cigarettes ?  Buyer 3: Give me 3 sportsman . He hands Pitah 45 shillings. Pitah takes the money, taps cigarette pack three times, removes three cigarettes and gives them to buyer 3. Buyer 3: As he takes the cigarettes. Do you have a lighter ? Pitah: I'm selling cigarettes and I can't lack one. Let me light it for you . He fishes the lighter, takes the cigarette and lights it. Waweru, B...

Here is your freedom, you can take it.

Commander in Chief puts his rifle down and  orders his fighters to lower down their glocks and instructs freedom unto his subjects...  No more police hunting citizens, no more citizens running away from policemen, no more police killing citizens, there will be more and more overnight hustles, grinds, more sins and everything will seem to have gotten back to normal. Citizens will rave free. Is freedom really free? How does it feel to be free? Freedom is a state of freeness, it is the ability to conduct activities without restrictions and such should be given free. The second question can rightly be explained by the feeling of a drunkard, who has just been awarded freedom of 'drinking' and 'drunkardness'. But that is just an example, I believe many people would explain it differently as per their perceptions.  Everyone desires that freedom of being free and being free with no restricts. For instance. Recently, Kenyans retained back their freedom after they were held in cu...
