The Interview with Mc Dopes

kasazile: So, who is Mc Dopes?
Mc Dopes: Uumh... Mc Dopes is a Kenyan by birth, a dancehall artist from Ongata Rongai and a first born of 3.
Kasazile: In the first place, what got you into doing music?
Mc Dopes: Well. Music is my passion, its a passion-driven kinda thing since when I was a child.
Kasazile: And who inspired you to get into the music industry?
Mc Dopes: My inspiration comes from different dancehall icons. I'm more inspired by the likes of Redsan, Sean Paul, Busy Signal... I mean the list continues.
Kasazile: Ok, that's nice. And, how would you describe the music that you typically create?
Mc Dopes: Well, ideas comes from listening to different artists across the globe and so, I get different themes and write my songs.
Kasazile: Who would you like to collaborate with in present or in future?
Mc Dopes: Redsan. He is the sole ultimate goal. I admire him a lot and so he's my ideal big time artist.
Kasazile: If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?
Mc Dopes: Either Redsan, Chameleon or Sean Paul.
Kasazile: What is one message you would give to your fans?
Mc Dopes: To my fans I would tell them to look forward to more projects from me, keep supporting the dancehall Daddie. Yeah that's my ultimate goal.
Kasazile: Oh great. What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Mc Dopes: I would probably be doing other hustles available out here just like the rest.
Kasazile: Where have you performed?
Mc Dopes: I've been to various places like open concerts and birthday parties.
Kasazile: What are your favourite and least favourite venues for your performance?
Mc Dopes: I would do clubs better, unlike church where you can't express the message conveyed in the song.
Kasazile: Do you have any upcoming shows?
Mc Dopes: Right now I'm kinda less occupied, I guess coz of economical reasons.
Kasazile: How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?
Mc Dopes: I think the internet has made it easier for our fans to get our content easier through social media.
Kasazile: What is your favourite song to perform?
Mc Dopes: For now "Gal Dangerous" is my favourite song; anywhere its a crowd mover and a club thing.
Kasazile: What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into in the music industry?
Mc Dopes: I think its not really a trouble but more of a challenge, especially when you pay a music producer full amount to work on a project and fails to deliver it in time. Yeah, I can say that's the biggest challenge with majority of our music producers.
Kasazile: What is the best advice that you’ve ever been given?
Mc Dopes: "Always do your best like you ain't gonna do it again." These were Jacky B's words; the producer during my session with him and since then I heeded the advice.
Kasazile: If you could change anything about the Kenyan music industry, what would it be?
Mc Dopes: I think our industry is still behind in terms of the air play we are getting as artists. So, that's something I would really like to change so that we can give the Kenyan music about 95% of the airplay. 
Kasazile: What’s next for you?
Mc Dopes: More projects and good vibes from dancehall daddie.
Kasazile: What are your social media handles?
Mc Dopes: My social media handles is just Mc Dopes official on YouTube channel. Mc Dopes everywhere; Facebook, Instagram, yeah.
